Ingredients

  • 200 g tempeh
  • 1 cup oats
  • 1 medium carrot, grated
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 4 pieces burger buns
  • 4 pieces lettuce leaves
  • 8 pieces tomato slices
  • 4 tbsp vegan mayonnaise or sauce of choice

Directions

Step 1

In a food processor, crumble the tempeh into small pieces and pulse until it resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 2

Add oats to the food processor and pulse a few times to combine.

Step 3

Transfer the tempeh-oat mixture to a large mixing bowl.

Step 4

Stir in the grated carrot, chopped onion, minced garlic, soy sauce, olive oil, ground cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until the mixture comes together.

Using your hands, shape the mixture into 4 equal-sized burger patties.
