Ingredients

  • 1 pound Flank steak
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 whole Red bell pepper
  • 1 whole Green bell pepper
  • 1 whole Yellow bell pepper
  • 1 medium Yellow onion
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 0.5 cup Mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • 4 pieces Hoagie rolls
  • 4 slices Provolone cheese
  • 2 tablespoons Butter

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.

Step 2

Season the flank steak on both sides with salt and black pepper. Drizzle 1 tablespoon of olive oil over the steak and rub it in.

Step 3

Slice the red, green, and yellow bell peppers into thin strips, and do the same with the onion. In a large bowl, toss the peppers and onion with 1 tablespoon of olive oil and a pinch of salt and pepper.

Step 4

Grill the steak for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or adjust cooking time depending on your preferred doneness. Remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing thinly against the grain.

Meanwhile, grill the peppers and onions in a grill basket or foil pack, stirring occasionally, until they are softened and lightly charred, about 8-10 minutes.

To make the garlic aioli, finely grate or mince the garlic cloves and mix them into the mayonnaise along with the lemon juice. Season with a pinch of salt and set aside.
