Ingredients

  • 4 slices Sourdough bread
  • 4 ounces Cheddar cheese, shredded or sliced
  • 4 slices Bacon, cooked and crispy
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tablespoon Maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Mayonnaise

Directions

Step 1

In a small bowl, mix together the maple syrup, Dijon mustard, and mayonnaise until well combined to create the maple mustard spread.

Step 2

Butter one side of each slice of sourdough bread. This will be the exterior of the sandwich.

Step 3

Spread the maple mustard mixture on the unbuttered side of two slices of bread.

Step 4

On top of the maple mustard layer, evenly distribute half of the shredded or sliced cheddar cheese on each sandwich.

Step 5

Layer two slices of crispy cooked bacon on top of the cheese for each sandwich.

Step 6

Add the remaining cheddar cheese on top of the bacon, and close the sandwich with the remaining slices of bread, ensuring the buttered sides are facing outward.

Step 7

Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat. Once hot, place the sandwiches onto the skillet.

Step 8

Cook the sandwiches for 3–4 minutes on one side, pressing gently with a spatula to ensure even browning and melting of the cheese.

Step 9

Flip the sandwiches carefully and cook for another 3–4 minutes on the other side, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted through.

Step 10

Remove the sandwiches from the skillet, let them cool for 1 minute, then slice in half and serve warm.
