Ingredients

  • 4 whole Roma tomatoes
  • 1 medium Red onion
  • 4 whole Garlic cloves
  • 1 whole Fresh jalapeño
  • 2 tablespoons Balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Ground smoked paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons Black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.

Step 2

Cut the Roma tomatoes in half lengthwise and peel the outer layer off the red onion. Slice the onion into quarters.

Step 3

Thread the halved tomatoes, red onion quarters, garlic cloves, and whole jalapeño onto skewers. Brush them lightly with olive oil to prevent sticking.

Step 4

Place the skewers on the grill. Grill for 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until the vegetables are charred and softened.

Step 5

Remove the skewers from the grill and carefully slide the vegetables off onto a plate. Allow them to cool slightly before handling.

Step 6

Peel the charred skin off the garlic cloves and jalapeño. Cut the jalapeño in half and remove the seeds if you prefer a milder sauce.

Step 7

Transfer the grilled vegetables to a blender or food processor. Add balsamic vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.

Step 8

Blend the mixture until smooth and creamy. Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.

Step 9

Pour the smoky steak sauce into a serving dish or jar. Use immediately as a topping for steaks or refrigerate for up to 5 days.
