Ingredients

  • 4 slices Bread (white, whole wheat, or sourdough)
  • 120 grams Cheddar cheese (sharp or mild, shredded or sliced)
  • 1 medium Apple (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or preferred variety)
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons Honey (optional, for dipping)

Directions

Step 1

Core and slice the apple into thin, even pieces. Set aside.

Step 2

Lay the bread slices flat on a cutting board. Evenly distribute the cheddar cheese on two of the slices. Arrange a layer of apple slices on top of the cheese, then cover with the remaining bread slices to create sandwiches.

Step 3

Cut each sandwich into 3 strips so they resemble ‘dippers’.

Step 4

Heat a griddle or non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon of butter and allow it to melt, swirling to coat the surface.

Step 5

Place the sandwich strips in the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese has melted. Repeat with the second batch of strips, adding more butter as needed.

Step 6

Remove from heat and let the dippers cool slightly before serving.

Step 7

Serve warm, optionally pairing with honey for dipping to add a touch of sweetness.
