Ingredients

  • 500 grams green beans
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 50 grams raw sliced almonds
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Wash and trim the ends of the green beans.

Step 2

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the green beans and blanch them for 2-3 minutes, until bright green and slightly tender. Drain immediately and transfer to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. Once cooled, drain and set aside.

Step 3

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium heat.

Step 4

Add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant, stirring constantly to avoid burning.

Step 5

Add the sliced almonds to the skillet and toast for 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently, until golden brown.

Step 6

Add the blanched green beans to the skillet and toss to coat. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the beans are heated through.

Step 7

Stir in the lemon zest and lemon juice, ensuring the green beans are evenly coated.

Step 8

Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

Step 9

Transfer to a serving dish and serve warm.
