Ingredients

  • 500 grams macaroni pasta
  • 500 grams ground beef
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion
  • 3 cloves garlic cloves
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 400 grams crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 0.5 teaspoons ground allspice
  • 1 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoons salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons black pepper
  • 100 grams grated Parmesan cheese
  • 0 water for boiling pasta

Directions

Step 1

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the macaroni pasta according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside, lightly drizzling with olive oil to prevent sticking.

Step 2

In a large skillet or saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.

Step 3

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.

Step 4

Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, until it is browned and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes.

Step 5

Stir in the tomato paste and mix well to coat the beef evenly.

Step 6

Add the crushed tomatoes, cinnamon stick, bay leaf, ground allspice, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine.

Step 7

Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer gently for 25-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened and aromatic. Remove the cinnamon stick and bay leaf before serving.

Step 8

Serve the cooked macaroni topped with the meat sauce and a generous sprinkling of grated Parmesan cheese.
