Ingredients

  • 4 pounds Pork spareribs
  • 2 teaspoons Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 2 cups Ketchup
  • 1 cup Brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup Apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Prepared mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked paprika
  • 0.25 cup Water

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).

Step 2

Pat the spareribs dry with paper towels and place them on a large baking sheet.

Step 3

In a small bowl, mix together the salt, black pepper, paprika, onion powder, and garlic powder to create a spice rub.

Step 4

Rub the spice mixture evenly over both sides of the spareribs.

Step 5

Cover the ribs with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 2 hours, until the meat is tender and starts to pull away from the bones.

Step 6

While the ribs are baking, prepare the barbecue sauce. In a medium saucepan, combine the ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, smoked paprika, and water. Stir well to combine.

Step 7

Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring occasionally. Let the sauce simmer for 10-15 minutes until slightly thickened. Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 8

After the ribs have baked for 2 hours, remove them from the oven and carefully discard the foil.

Step 9

Increase the oven temperature to 375°F (190°C).

Step 10

Brush a generous layer of barbecue sauce on both sides of the ribs.

Step 11

Return the ribs to the oven, uncovered, and bake for an additional 30 minutes, basting with more sauce every 10 minutes to create a glossy, caramelized coating.

Step 12

Once done, remove the ribs from the oven and let them rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing between the bones.

Step 13

Serve the ribs hot with any remaining barbecue sauce on the side.
