Ingredients

  • 3 large Ripe bananas
  • 0.5 cup Unsalted butter
  • 0.75 cup Granulated sugar
  • 0.25 cup Brown sugar
  • 2 Large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 cup Buttermilk
  • 0.5 cup Chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan and line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

Step 2

Mash the bananas in a large mixing bowl until smooth. Set aside.

Step 3

In a separate bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

Step 4

Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Step 5

Add the mashed bananas to the wet mixture, stirring until well combined.

Step 6

In another bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.

Step 7

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the buttermilk, starting and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined. Do not overmix.

Step 8

If using nuts, gently fold them into the batter at this stage.

Step 9

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, spreading it evenly.

Step 10

Bake in the preheated oven for 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Step 11

Remove the banana bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 12

Slice and serve warm or at room temperature. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
