Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 14.5 ounces canned diced tomatoes
  • 15 ounces canned kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 15 ounces canned black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 8 ounces canned tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoons salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons black pepper
  • 1 cup water

Directions

Step 1

In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat over medium-high heat.

Step 2

Add the ground beef and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes, breaking it up into small crumbles with a wooden spoon.

Step 3

Drain any excess grease from the pot, if necessary.

Step 4

Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the pot. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the onion becomes translucent and fragrant.

Step 5

Stir in the diced tomatoes, kidney beans, black beans, tomato sauce, and water.

Step 6

Add the chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine all ingredients thoroughly.

Step 7

Bring the mixture to a simmer and reduce the heat to low. Cover the pot with a lid and let it cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.

Step 8

Taste the chili and adjust the seasoning if needed. Add more salt, pepper, or chili powder depending on your preference.

Step 9

Serve hot with your favorite toppings such as shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped green onions, or tortilla chips. Enjoy!
