Ingredients

  • 4 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2.25 teaspoons Active dry yeast
  • 0.25 cup Warm water
  • 1 cup Whole milk
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large Egg
  • 2 tablespoons Butter, for topping

Directions

Step 1

In a small bowl, dissolve the active dry yeast in the warm water. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.

Step 2

In a saucepan, warm the milk over low heat until lukewarm (not hot). Remove from heat and add the melted butter. Stir to combine.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Stir to evenly distribute the dry ingredients.

Step 4

Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients. Pour in the milk and butter mixture, the yeast mixture, and the beaten egg.

Step 5

Mix the ingredients together with a wooden spoon or a dough hook attachment on a stand mixer until a shaggy dough forms.

Step 6

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Alternatively, knead with the stand mixer for 5-6 minutes.

Step 7

Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl and cover with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap. Let it rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.

Step 8

Once risen, punch down the dough to release the air. Divide it into 12 equal portions and shape each into a smooth ball.

Step 9

Place the dough balls in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, evenly spaced. Cover and let rise again for 30-40 minutes until puffy.

Step 10

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 11

Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown on the tops.

Step 12

Remove the rolls from the oven and immediately brush them with the 2 tablespoons of butter for a glossy finish.

Step 13

Let the rolls cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy warm with butter or your favorite toppings.
