Ingredients

  • 1 pound beef sirloin steak
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 large green bell pepper
  • 1 large red bell pepper
  • 1 medium yellow onion
  • 3 cloves garlic cloves
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 cups cooked white rice
  • 2 stalks green onions (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Thinly slice the beef sirloin steak into strips about 2 inches long and 1/4 inch thick. Place the steak strips in a bowl.

Step 2

In the bowl with the steak, add soy sauce and cornstarch. Mix well to coat the beef. Let it marinate for 10 minutes while you prepare the vegetables.

Step 3

Cut the green and red bell peppers into thin strips. Peel and slice the yellow onion into wedges. Mince the garlic cloves.

Step 4

In a large skillet or wok, heat half of the vegetable oil (1 tablespoon) over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the marinated beef strips in a single layer. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned and just cooked through. Remove the beef and set aside.

Step 5

Add the remaining vegetable oil (1 tablespoon) to the skillet. Toss in the bell peppers, onion wedges, and minced garlic. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are slightly softened but still crisp.

Step 6

Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the vegetables. Stir everything together.

Step 7

In a small bowl, whisk together the beef broth, oyster sauce, sugar, and black pepper. Pour this sauce over the beef and vegetable mixture in the skillet.

Step 8

Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly and evenly coats the ingredients.

Step 9

Remove from heat and serve hot over cooked white rice.

Step 10

Garnish with sliced green onions if desired and enjoy!
