Ingredients

  • 2 cups (crushed to crumbs) Graham crackers
  • 0.5 cups (melted) Unsalted butter
  • 0.25 cups Granulated sugar
  • 1.5 cups Semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 can (14 ounces) Sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cups Shredded sweetened coconut
  • 0.5 cups Chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking pan lightly with butter or cooking spray.

Step 2

In a mixing bowl, combine the crushed graham crackers, melted butter, and granulated sugar. Stir until well combined and the mixture resembles damp sand.

Step 3

Press the graham cracker mixture evenly across the bottom of the prepared baking pan to form the crust. Use the back of a measuring cup to press it firmly into place.

Step 4

Sprinkle the semisweet chocolate chips evenly over the graham cracker crust.

Step 5

Pour the sweetened condensed milk over the chocolate chips, spreading it gently with a spatula to ensure an even layer.

Step 6

Sprinkle the shredded coconut evenly over the top, followed by the chopped walnuts or pecans, if using.

Step 7

Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 25 minutes, or until the coconut is golden brown and the bars are set.

Step 8

Remove the pan from the oven and allow the bars to cool completely in the pan, about 1-2 hours, before cutting into squares or rectangles.

Step 9

Store the bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days, or refrigerate for a firmer texture.
