Ingredients

  • 6 cups Cheerios cereal
  • 1 cup Butter
  • 1 cup Brown sugar
  • 1 cup Honey
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • 2 cups Mini marshmallows
  • 0.5 cup Chocolate chips (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick cooking spray and set aside.

Step 2

In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.

Step 3

Add brown sugar and honey to the melted butter. Stir until the mixture is fully combined and begins to bubble.

Step 4

Reduce the heat to low and continue cooking the mixture for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 5

Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract and mini marshmallows until completely melted.

Step 6

Quickly pour the melted mixture over the Cheerios in a large mixing bowl and stir gently until the cereal is evenly coated.

Step 7

Optional: Add chocolate chips as you mix, allowing them to melt slightly for swirls or stay intact for pops of chocolate flavor.

Step 8

Transfer the coated mixture into the prepared baking dish and press it down firmly with a spatula or clean hands to flatten evenly.

Step 9

Allow the bars to cool at room temperature for 30-40 minutes or place them in the refrigerator for quicker setting.

Step 10

Once set, slice into 16 squares or rectangles and serve. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
