Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups Rolled oats
  • 0.5 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 0.25 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons Baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons Boiling water
  • 2 tablespoons Milk

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats, all-purpose flour, brown sugar, salt, and baking soda. Mix well.

Step 3

Cut the unsalted butter into small pieces and add it to the dry ingredients. Use your hands or a pastry cutter to work the butter into the mixture until crumbly.

Step 4

Add the boiling water and milk to the bowl, stirring until the ingredients come together to form a dough. If the dough feels too dry, add a few drops of milk until it holds together.

Step 5

Lightly flour a clean surface and roll out the dough to about 1/8 inch thickness.

Step 6

Cut the dough into squares or rectangles using a sharp knife or a pizza cutter. Alternatively, use a round cookie cutter for a different shape.

Step 7

Transfer the cut crackers onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving a small gap between each one.

Step 8

Use a fork to gently prick holes in the center of each cracker to prevent them from puffing up during baking.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the crackers turn golden brown.

Step 10

Remove the crackers from the oven and let them cool completely on a wire rack. They will crisp up further as they cool.

Step 11

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
