Ingredients

  • 12 oz Wide egg noodles
  • 6 tbsp Unsalted butter
  • 8 oz Cream cheese
  • 2 cups Sour cream
  • 2 cups Cottage cheese
  • 0.75 cup Granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup Whole milk
  • 4 large Eggs
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup Raisins
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs or crushed cornflakes (optional, for topping)
  • 2 tbsp Melted butter (optional, for topping)
  • 2 tsp Additional cinnamon and sugar mixture (optional, for topping)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

Step 2

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the egg noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Step 3

While the noodles are cooking, combine the butter and cream cheese in a large mixing bowl. Beat with a handheld or stand mixer until creamy and smooth.

Step 4

Add the sour cream, cottage cheese, granulated sugar, milk, eggs, vanilla extract, salt, and ground cinnamon to the bowl. Mix until fully combined and smooth. Set aside.

Step 5

Fold the cooked and drained noodles into the custard mixture, ensuring they are evenly coated.

Step 6

If using raisins, fold them into the mixture as well.

Step 7

Pour the noodle and custard mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.

Step 8

If desired, prepare the topping by combining breadcrumbs or crushed cornflakes with melted butter and a sprinkle of cinnamon and sugar. Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the kugel.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden and the custard is set.

Step 10

Let the kugel cool for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature!
