Ingredients

  • 6 pieces Large banana peppers
  • 3 pieces Large bell peppers (any color)
  • 1 pound Ground Italian sausage
  • 8 ounces Cream cheese
  • 1 cup Shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 0.5 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 3 cloves Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 cup Tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 2

Wash and dry the banana and bell peppers. Slice them in half lengthwise and remove the seeds and membranes, being careful to leave the stems intact for a decorative touch.

Step 3

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the ground Italian sausage and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.

Step 4

In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked sausage, cream cheese, shredded mozzarella, Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well incorporated.

Step 5

Lightly grease a baking dish with the remaining olive oil. Arrange the pepper halves in the dish, cut side up.

Step 6

Stuff each pepper half generously with the sausage and cheese mixture, pressing the filling down gently.

Step 7

Spoon a small amount of tomato sauce over each stuffed pepper.

Step 8

Cover the dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.

Step 9

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the peppers are tender and the filling is bubbly and golden brown.

Step 10

Remove from the oven and let the peppers cool slightly. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.

Step 11

Serve warm as an appetizer, side dish, or even a main course alongside crusty bread.
