Ingredients

  • 3 lbs Pork spareribs
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Smoked paprika
  • 1 cup Ketchup
  • 0.3333 cup Brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp Apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp Honey
  • 0.5 tsp Mustard powder
  • 0.5 tsp Chili powder
  • 0.25 cup Water

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).

Step 2

Lay the spareribs on a clean surface and remove the membrane from the back of the ribs for better tenderness.

Step 3

In a small bowl, mix together the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika to create a dry rub.

Step 4

Rub the spice mixture evenly over both sides of the spareribs.

Step 5

Wrap the seasoned ribs tightly in aluminum foil and place on a baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 2.5 hours or until tender.

Step 6

While the ribs are baking, make the barbecue sauce. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, honey, mustard powder, chili powder, and water. Stir well.

Step 7

Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer and cook for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened. Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 8

After 2.5 hours, remove the ribs from the oven and carefully unwrap the foil. Be cautious of steam.

Step 9

Brush a generous amount of barbecue sauce over both sides of the ribs.

Step 10

Heat a grill to medium-high heat or set your oven broiler to high. Place the ribs on the grill or under the broiler for 5-7 minutes, brushing with more sauce and turning once, until caramelized and slightly charred.

Step 11

Remove the ribs from the heat and let rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

Step 12

Serve warm with any remaining barbecue sauce on the side.
