Ingredients

  • 4 pieces bone-in pork chops
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium, sliced onion
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 0.5 cup heavy cream
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 2

Pat the pork chops dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.

Step 3

Lightly coat each pork chop in flour, shaking off any excess.

Step 4

Heat the olive oil in a large, oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the pork chops for 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Remove them from the skillet and set aside.

Step 5

In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and cook until softened and golden, about 5 minutes.

Step 6

Stir in the chicken broth, heavy cream, and dried thyme. Bring the mixture to a simmer, scraping any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet for added flavor.

Step 7

Return the pork chops to the skillet, spooning the sauce over them. Cover the skillet with foil or transfer to a baking dish if needed.

Step 8

Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the pork chops are tender and reach an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).

Step 9

Remove the skillet from the oven and let the pork chops rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Step 10

Serve the pork chops hot with the creamy onion sauce poured over them. Pair with mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables for a hearty meal.
