Ingredients

  • 500 g Ground beef
  • 100 g Breadcrumbs
  • 1 large Egg
  • 60 ml Milk
  • 1 medium, finely chopped Onion
  • 2 minced Garlic cloves
  • 2 tbsp, chopped Fresh parsley
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil
  • 15 g Flour
  • 1 large, thawed Puff pastry sheet
  • 1 large, beaten Egg (for egg wash)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, chopped onion, minced garlic, parsley, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until well combined.

Step 3

Dust a clean surface with a little flour and roll out the puff pastry sheet into a large rectangle, if needed.

Step 4

Shape the meat mixture into a log, leaving some space lengthwise around the edges for sealing, and place it onto the short end of the puff pastry sheet.

Step 5

Carefully roll the pastry around the meat log, ensuring the seam is underneath. Trim any excess pastry if needed and pinch the ends to seal.

Step 6

Brush the beaten egg over the pastry for a golden, glossy finish.

Step 7

Using a sharp knife, make light slit marks across the pastry for decoration and to allow steam to escape.

Step 8

Transfer the meat roll onto the prepared baking tray and bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and the meat is fully cooked.

Step 9

Allow the meat roll to rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.
