Ingredients

  • 1 cup Whole milk
  • 0.5 cup Granulated sugar
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2.25 teaspoons Active dry yeast
  • 0.25 cup Warm water
  • 2 pieces Large eggs
  • 4 cups All-purpose flour
  • 0.75 cup Brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Ground cinnamon
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted butter (softened, for filling)
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons Whole milk (for glaze)

Directions

Step 1

In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine 1 cup of milk, 4 tablespoons of butter, 1/2 cup sugar, and 1 teaspoon salt. Stir until the butter is melted and the mixture is just warm, about 110°F.

Step 2

In a small bowl, dissolve 2 1/4 teaspoons yeast in 1/4 cup warm water (about 110°F) and allow it to bloom for 5 minutes until frothy.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, combine the milk mixture, yeast mixture, and 2 eggs. Gradually add 4 cups of flour, 1 cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms.

Step 4

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8 minutes, until smooth and elastic.

Step 5

Lightly grease a large bowl and place the dough inside. Cover with a damp towel and let rise in a warm place for 1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.

Step 6

In a small bowl, combine 3/4 cup brown sugar and 2 tablespoons cinnamon for the filling.

Step 7

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to a rectangle approximately 16x12 inches.

Step 8

Spread the softened butter (4 tablespoons) evenly over the dough, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the top.

Step 9

Starting from a long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Pinch the seam to seal and slice the log into 12 equal rolls.

Step 10

Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish and arrange the rolls inside, leaving a small gap between them. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes, or until the rolls are puffy.

Step 11

Preheat your oven to 350°F. Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.

Step 12

While the rolls bake, prepare the glaze by whisking together 1 cup powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons milk, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.

Step 13

Once the rolls come out of the oven, let them cool for 5 minutes and drizzle with the glaze. Serve warm and enjoy!
