Ingredients

  • 3 cups Granulated sugar
  • 1 cup Evaporated milk
  • 3 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 2 cups Semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 jar (7 ounces) Marshmallow crème
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Chopped nuts (optional, such as walnuts or pecans)

Directions

Step 1

Line an 8x8-inch baking pan with aluminum foil, leaving an overhang for easy removal later. Lightly grease the foil with butter or non-stick spray.

Step 2

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the granulated sugar, evaporated milk, unsalted butter, and a pinch of salt.

Step 3

Stir constantly until the butter is melted and the sugar is fully dissolved. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil.

Step 4

Continue boiling the mixture for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it reaches 234°F (the soft-ball stage) on a candy thermometer. Be careful to avoid overcooking.

Step 5

Remove the saucepan from heat and immediately stir in the semi-sweet chocolate chips. Stir vigorously until the chocolate chips are completely melted and the mixture is smooth.

Step 6

Add the marshmallow crème and vanilla extract to the saucepan. Continue stirring until fully combined and smooth.

Step 7

If using nuts, fold them into the fudge mixture at this stage.

Step 8

Quickly pour the fudge into the prepared pan and spread it evenly with a spatula.

Step 9

Let the fudge cool at room temperature for 2-3 hours, or until it sets completely.

Step 10

Once set, lift the fudge out of the pan using the foil overhang. Cut into 1-inch squares and serve.

Step 11

Store leftover fudge in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week or in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
