  • 1 pound Flank steak
  • 6 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Cornstarch
  • 3 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 1 medium Red bell pepper
  • 1 medium Green bell pepper
  • 1 medium Yellow onion
  • 3 cloves Garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Ground black pepper
  • 1 cup Beef broth
  • 3 tablespoons Oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil
  • 2 stalks Scallions (green onions)
  • 4 cups Cooked white rice

Directions

Step 1

Thinly slice the flank steak against the grain into bite-sized strips. Place the slices in a bowl, add 3 tablespoons of soy sauce and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch. Mix well to coat the beef and set aside to marinate for 15 minutes.

Step 2

While the beef is marinating, prepare the vegetables: slice the red and green bell peppers into thin strips, cut the onion into wedges, mince the garlic, and chop the scallions.

Step 3

In a small bowl, prepare the sauce by combining the remaining 3 tablespoons of soy sauce, the remaining 1 tablespoon of cornstarch, beef broth, oyster sauce, brown sugar, ground black pepper, and sesame oil. Whisk until smooth and set aside.

Step 4

Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the marinated beef in a single layer. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned but not fully cooked. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.

In the same pan, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the garlic, onion, and bell peppers. Stir-fry for 4-5 minutes until the veggies are slightly tender but still crisp.

Step 6

Return the beef to the pan and pour in the sauce. Stir everything together and let it cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce thickens and evenly coats the meat and vegetables.

Step 7

Turn off the heat and garnish with chopped scallions. Serve hot over cooked white rice.
