Ingredients

  • 16 oz Elbow macaroni
  • 4 tbsp Unsalted butter
  • 3 tbsp All-purpose flour
  • 3 cups Whole milk
  • 2 cups Sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup Mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 0.5 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp Smoked paprika
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 2 tbsp Fresh parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

Step 2

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Step 3

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, until the mixture turns golden and bubbly.

Step 4

Slowly pour in the milk while whisking to avoid lumps. Cook the mixture for 3-4 minutes, or until it thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon.

Step 5

Reduce the heat to low and gradually stir in the cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, and Parmesan cheese. Stir until the cheese is completely melted and the sauce is smooth.

Step 6

Season the cheese sauce with salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika. Adjust the seasoning to taste.

Step 7

Combine the cooked macaroni with the cheese sauce in a large bowl, ensuring that the pasta is thoroughly coated.

Step 8

Transfer the macaroni mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading it into an even layer.

Step 9

In a small bowl, combine the breadcrumbs with olive oil, stirring to coat the crumbs evenly. Sprinkle the breadcrumbs over the top of the macaroni mixture.

Step 10

Bake the dish in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.

Step 11

Remove from the oven and let it cool for 5 minutes. Optionally, garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

Step 12

Serve warm and enjoy Gram S Baked Macaroni with a side salad or your favorite vegetable dish.
