Ingredients

  • 2.5 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups Granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 cup Unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup Guava nectar
  • 0.5 cup Whole milk
  • 3 units Large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 8 ounces Cream cheese (softened)
  • 2 cups Powdered sugar
  • 0.5 cup Heavy cream
  • 0.75 cup Guava jelly or paste
  • 2 tablespoons Water
  • 1 teaspoon Cornstarch

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 9-inch round cake pans with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix well to ensure the dry ingredients are evenly distributed.

Step 3

Add the softened butter, guava nectar, and milk to the dry ingredients. Mix on low speed until combined, then increase to medium speed and beat for 2 minutes until smooth and creamy.

Step 4

Add the eggs and vanilla extract, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.

Step 5

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Smooth the tops with a spatula.

Step 6

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Step 7

Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 8

While the cakes cool, make the frosting. In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar and mix until fully incorporated. Add the heavy cream and beat until the frosting is light and fluffy.

Step 9

For the guava glaze, combine the guava jelly or paste, water, and cornstarch in a small saucepan over medium heat. Whisk constantly until smooth and thickened. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Step 10

To assemble the cake, place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a thick layer of cream cheese frosting over the top. Place the second cake layer on top, then frost the entire cake with the remaining frosting.

Step 11

Pour the cooled guava glaze over the top of the cake, allowing it to drip down the sides for a decorative effect.

Step 12

Refrigerate the cake for at least 1 hour to set before serving. Slice and enjoy!
