  • 3.5 cups Water
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter

  • 1 medium, diced Carrot
  • 0.5 cup Frozen peas
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground turmeric
  • 0.25 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0.25 cup, chopped Fresh cilantro
  • 0.25 cup, chopped Fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice

Directions

Step 1

Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in cold water for 10 minutes, then drain and set aside.

Step 2

In a medium-sized pot, heat unsalted butter over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and toast for 30 seconds until fragrant.

Step 3

Add the finely chopped onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes until soft and translucent.

Stir in the minced garlic, diced carrot, and ground turmeric. Cook for 2 minutes until the spices are well-distributed and the vegetables start to soften.

Add the drained rice to the pot and stir gently to coat the grains with the butter and spices.
