Ingredients

  • 1 cup dried apricots
  • 1.5 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 0.25 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 0.125 teaspoons salt

Directions

Step 1

Rinse the dried apricots under cool water to remove any residue.

Step 2

In a small saucepan, combine the dried apricots and water. Bring to a boil over medium heat.

Step 3

Reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and let the apricots simmer for 10 minutes or until they are plump and tender.

Step 4

Transfer the cooked apricots and about half the cooking liquid to a blender or food processor. Blend until smooth, adding more of the cooking liquid as needed to achieve your desired sauce consistency.

Step 5

Return the apricot puree to the saucepan. Stir in honey, lemon juice, butter, ground cinnamon, and salt.

Step 6

Place the saucepan over low heat and cook, stirring occasionally, for 2-3 minutes, or until the butter is melted and the sauce is warmed through.

Step 7

Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness by adding more honey or lemon juice, as preferred.

Step 8

Serve the sauce warm or let it cool to room temperature. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
