Ingredients

  • 400 grams Firm tofu
  • 2 tablespoons Cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 3 tablespoons Gochujang (Korean red chili paste)
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Maple syrup
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame seeds
  • 2 stalks Green onions, sliced

Directions

Step 1

Begin by draining the tofu well. Pat it dry with paper towels and cut it into 1-inch cubes.

Step 2

Place the tofu cubes in a large bowl and sprinkle with cornstarch. Gently toss to ensure all pieces are evenly coated.

Step 3

Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the tofu cubes and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until they are golden and crispy. Remove from the pan and set aside.

Step 4

In the same skillet, lower the heat to medium and add gochujang, soy sauce, rice vinegar, maple syrup, and minced garlic. Stir the mixture until the ingredients are well combined and the garlic is fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.

Step 5

Return the crispy tofu to the skillet. Gently toss it in the sauce until each piece is coated evenly.

Step 6

Drizzle sesame oil over the tofu for added flavor. Stir to combine.

Step 7

Sprinkle the tofu with sesame seeds and sliced green onions before serving.

Step 8

Serve immediately as a main dish or with a side of steamed rice or fresh vegetables.
