Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons Gluten-free all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups Chicken broth
  • 0.5 cup Heavy cream
  • 1.5 cups Sharp white cheddar cheese (shredded)
  • 0.5 teaspoon Paprika
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley (chopped, optional for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Season the chicken breasts with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder on both sides.

Step 2

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned chicken breasts and sear for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.

Step 3

Reduce the heat to medium and add unsalted butter to the same skillet. Once melted, whisk in the gluten-free all-purpose flour to create a roux. Cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, until the roux is golden and smooth.

Step 4

Gradually pour in the chicken broth while whisking to prevent lumps. Then add the heavy cream and continue whisking until the sauce is smooth and begins to thicken, about 3-4 minutes.

Step 5

Stir in the shredded white cheddar cheese, a little at a time, until fully melted and incorporated into the sauce. Sprinkle in the paprika for additional flavor, and stir to combine.

Step 6

Return the seared chicken breasts to the skillet, nestling them into the cheesy sauce. Cover the skillet with a lid and reduce the heat to low. Simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 74°C).

Step 7

Garnish with chopped fresh parsley, if desired, and serve immediately. Pair with steamed vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a gluten-free pasta for a complete meal.
