Ingredients

  • 500 grams Beef sirloin or flank steak
  • 8 stalks Green onions (scallions)
  • 60 milliliters Gluten-free soy sauce (tamari)
  • 2 tablespoons Sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons Ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Water

Directions

Step 1

1. Thinly slice the beef into bite-sized strips across the grain. In a medium bowl, combine the sliced beef with 1 tablespoon of gluten-free soy sauce, cornstarch, and 1 tablespoon of sesame oil. Mix well and set aside to marinate for 15 minutes.

Step 2

2. While the beef marinates, wash and trim the green onions. Cut them into 5 cm (2-inch) lengths.

Step 3

3. Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil and swirl to coat the bottom of the pan.

Step 4

4. Add the marinated beef to the wok in a single layer. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes, or until the beef is just browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the wok and set aside on a plate.

Step 5

5. In the same wok, add the minced garlic and ginger. Stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.

Step 6

6. Add the green onion pieces to the wok and stir-fry for 1-2 minutes until they are slightly tender but still crisp.

Step 7

7. Return the cooked beef to the wok. Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of gluten-free soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of sesame oil, water, and salt. Toss everything together to ensure the beef and green onions are well coated in the sauce.

Step 8

8. Season with ground black pepper to taste and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

Step 9

9. Remove from heat and serve immediately. Pair with steamed rice or gluten-free noodles for a complete meal.
