Ingredients

  • 20 sheets Gluten-free wonton wrappers
  • 300 grams Ground pork
  • 150 grams Shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 50 grams Water chestnuts, finely chopped
  • 2 stalks Green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons Gluten-free soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil
  • 0.5 teaspoon Sugar
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 1 small Carrot, grated (for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, shrimp, water chestnuts, and green onions.

Step 2

Add the grated ginger, gluten-free soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, black pepper, salt, and cornstarch to the mixture.

Step 3

Use your hands or a spatula to thoroughly mix the ingredients until well combined and sticky.

Step 4

Prepare your steaming setup: Line a bamboo steamer or a regular steamer with parchment paper and lightly oil it.

Step 5

Place a gluten-free wonton wrapper in your palm and scoop about 1 tablespoon of filling into the center.

Step 6

Gently fold the edges of the wrapper around the filling, leaving the top exposed to shape the Siew Mai.

Step 7

Press a small pinch of grated carrot on top of each dumpling for garnish.

Step 8

Arrange the dumplings in the steamer basket, ensuring they are not touching each other.

Step 9

Fill a pot or wok with water, bring it to a boil, and place the steamer over the pot.

Step 10

Cover and steam the dumplings for 10-15 minutes, or until the filling is fully cooked.

Step 11

Carefully remove the cooked dumplings from the steamer and serve immediately with additional gluten-free soy sauce as a dipping sauce.
