Ingredients

  • 2 pieces gluten-free hamburger buns
  • 0.5 pound 80/20 ground beef
  • 2 slices Cheddar cheese slices (gluten-free)
  • 2 leaves Romaine lettuce leaves
  • 1 medium ripe tomato
  • 0.25 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 0.25 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 2 tablespoons dill pickles, finely chopped
  • 0.25 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon paprika

Directions

Step 1

Start by preparing the ShackSauce. In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, finely chopped dill pickles, garlic powder, and paprika until well combined. Set aside.

Step 2

Take the ground beef and divide it into two equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball, and then flatten into a round patty. Season both sides with kosher salt and black pepper.

Step 3

Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat, and melt 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter.

Step 4

Place the beef patties in the skillet and cook for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until desired doneness. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Cheddar cheese on each patty and cover the skillet with a lid to allow the cheese to melt.

Step 5

While the patties are cooking, slice the tomato and prepare the lettuce leaves.

Step 6

In another pan or the same skillet, melt the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter and toast the inside of the gluten-free hamburger buns until golden brown.

Step 7

Assemble the burger: Spread a generous amount of ShackSauce on each bun half, place a lettuce leaf on the bottom bun, followed by a cheese-topped beef patty, tomato slices, and finishing with the top bun.

Step 8

Serve immediately and enjoy your homemade gluten-free Shack Burger!
