Ingredients

  • 1 lb Chicken breast
  • 0.25 cup Gluten-free soy sauce
  • 0.5 cup Cornstarch
  • 0.5 cup Orange juice
  • 1 tbsp Orange zest
  • 3 tbsp Honey
  • 2 tbsp Rice vinegar
  • 2 Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp Ginger, minced
  • 2 Green onions, chopped
  • 3 tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 2 cups Cooked gluten-free rice
  • 1 tsp Sesame seeds
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 0.25 tsp Black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Cut the chicken breast into bite-sized pieces and season with salt and black pepper.

Step 2

In a medium bowl, combine the chicken pieces with 1 tablespoon of gluten-free soy sauce, coating them well.

Step 3

Place the cornstarch in a shallow dish and dredge each piece of chicken in the cornstarch until well-coated. Shake off any excess.

Step 4

In a small bowl, mix together the orange juice, remaining gluten-free soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, orange zest, minced garlic, and minced ginger. Set aside.

Step 5

Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Step 6

Once the oil is hot, add the chicken pieces in a single layer, avoiding overcrowding the pan. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through. Remove from the pan and transfer to a paper towel-lined plate.

Step 7

In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil, if needed.

Step 8

Add the sauce mixture to the skillet and bring it to a simmer. Allow it to cook for 3-4 minutes until slightly thickened.

Step 9

Return the chicken pieces to the skillet and toss them in the sauce until they are well-coated and heated through, taking about 2-3 minutes.

Step 10

Serve the orange chicken over a bed of cooked gluten-free rice.

Step 11

Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
