Ingredients

  • 1 pound chicken thighs
  • 5 tablespoons gluten-free soy sauce
  • 6 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 0.5 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce (gluten-free)
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 3 units garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 0.5 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 units green onions, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Cut the chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces and season them with salt and black pepper.

Step 2

In a bowl, combine 3 tablespoons of gluten-free soy sauce, 3 tablespoons of cornstarch, and 2 tablespoons of water. Stir until smooth. Add the chicken pieces to the bowl and mix until well coated. Allow it to marinate for at least 10 minutes.

Step 3

In another bowl, prepare the sauce by mixing the remaining 2 tablespoons of gluten-free soy sauce, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes. Set aside.

Step 4

Heat vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the chicken pieces in batches, frying until golden brown and cooked through, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove chicken from the pan and drain on paper towels.

Step 5

In the same pan, remove excess oil, leaving about 1 tablespoon. Add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for about 3 minutes until crisp-tender.

Step 6

Pour the sauce mixture into the pan with the broccoli and bring it to a simmer.

Step 7

In a small bowl, mix 3 tablespoons of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water until smooth. Add this mixture to the pan and stir continuously until the sauce thickens.

Step 8

Return the fried chicken to the pan, tossing well to coat with the sauce.

Step 9

Sprinkle with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Step 10

Serve hot with steamed rice or as desired.
