Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground Beef (80% lean)
  • 1.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons Black Pepper
  • 4 pieces Gluten-Free Hamburger Buns
  • 4 pieces Lettuce Leaves
  • 1 large Tomato
  • 1 small Red Onion
  • 4 slices Cheddar Cheese (optional)
  • 4 tablespoons Ketchup
  • 4 teaspoons Mustard
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil

Directions

Step 1

Begin by preheating your grill or a grill pan over medium-high heat.

Step 2

While the grill is heating, in a large bowl, combine the ground beef with 1 teaspoon of salt and 0.5 teaspoons of black pepper. Mix gently to combine without overworking the meat.

Step 3

Divide the seasoned beef into four equal portions and gently shape them into patties about 4 inches in diameter.

Step 4

Lightly brush each patty with olive oil to prevent sticking on the grill.

Step 5

Slice the tomato into 1/4 inch thick rounds and peel and slice the onion into thin rings.

Step 6

Once the grill is hot, place the beef patties on the grill, cooking for about 3-4 minutes on each side for medium doneness. Adjust time if you prefer more or less doneness.

Step 7

If using, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.

Step 8

While the patties are cooking, lightly toast the gluten-free buns on the grill for about 1 minute until lightly golden.

Step 9

To assemble the burger, place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Follow with a slice of tomato and some onion rings.

Step 10

Place the cooked beef patty on top of the vegetable stack.

Step 11

Top each patty with 1 tablespoon of ketchup and 1 teaspoon of mustard.

Step 12

Place the top half of the bun on each burger and serve immediately.
