Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Gluten-free burger buns
  • 1 pound Ground beef (80% lean)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 4 slices Cheddar cheese slices
  • 4 pieces Lettuce leaves
  • 1 large Tomato
  • 0.5 medium Red onion
  • 8 slices Pickle slices
  • 4 tablespoons Ketchup
  • 4 teaspoons Mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil

Directions

Step 1

Preheat a grill or stovetop griddle to medium-high heat.

Step 2

Slice the tomato into 1/4 inch thick rounds. Peel and slice the red onion into thin rings. Set aside along with lettuce and pickle slices.

Step 3

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Mix gently with your hands until seasoning is evenly distributed.

Step 4

Divide the beef mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a 1/2 inch thick patty. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up during cooking.

Step 5

Brush the olive oil onto the grill or griddle to prevent sticking. Place the patties on the grill and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side or until they reach an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C) for well-done.

Step 6

In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover the grill or use a lid to melt the cheese.

Step 7

Toast the gluten-free buns on the grill or in a toaster oven until lightly golden and warm.

Step 8

Assemble the burgers by spreading 1 tablespoon of ketchup and 1 teaspoon of mustard on the bottom half of each bun.

Step 9

Place a lettuce leaf on top of the condiments, followed by the burger patty with melted cheese.

Step 10

Add a tomato slice, a few onion rings, and two pickle slices to each burger.

Step 11

Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately.
