Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 0.25 cup gluten-free breadcrumbs
  • 1 whole large egg
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese slices
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, gluten-free breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Use your hands or a spatula to gently mix until all ingredients are well incorporated.

Step 2

Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each into a patty about 3/4-inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent puffing during cooking.

Step 3

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Step 4

Place the patties in the hot skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C) and are nicely browned on the outside.

Step 5

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover the skillet with a lid to let the cheese melt.

Step 6

Remove the patties from the skillet and let them rest for a couple of minutes before serving.

Step 7

Optionally serve with gluten-free buns and your favorite burger toppings.
