Ingredients

  • 200 grams glutinous rice flour
  • 150 milliliters water
  • 50 grams sugar
  • 150 grams red bean paste
  • 100 grams sesame seeds
  • 500 milliliters vegetable oil

Directions

Step 1

In a large bowl, combine the glutinous rice flour and sugar.

Step 2

Gradually add the water to the flour mixture while mixing until a smooth dough forms. It should be soft but firm enough to handle without sticking to your hands.

Step 3

Divide the dough into 8 portions.

Step 4

Flatten each dough portion in your palm to form a small disc.

Step 5

Place about a teaspoon of red bean paste in the center of each disc and carefully wrap the dough around it, sealing any openings by pinching the edges together.

Step 6

Gently roll each ball to smooth out the surface and ensure it's evenly shaped.

Step 7

Spread the sesame seeds on a large plate.

Step 8

Roll each rice ball in the sesame seeds, making sure they are evenly coated.

Step 9

In a deep pot, heat vegetable oil over medium heat to 350°F (175°C).

Step 10

Carefully add a few rice balls to the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pot.

Step 11

Fry the balls for 3-4 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown and crispy.

Step 12

Use a slotted spoon to remove the rice balls from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain any excess oil.

Step 13

Allow the buchi to cool slightly before serving.
