Ingredients

  • 500 grams Potatoes
  • 1 tablespoon Gluten-free soy sauce
  • 1 medium Onion
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground white pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Coriander leaves
  • 1 large Egg
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 500 milliliters Vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons Cornflour
  • 100 grams Ground beef (optional)
  • 1 small Chili, finely chopped (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Peel and cut the potatoes into large chunks. Boil them in a pot of salted water until soft, about 15-20 minutes.

Step 2

While the potatoes are boiling, finely chop the onion and garlic. If using ground beef, cook it until browned in a skillet and set aside.

Step 3

Once the potatoes are cooked, drain them and mash in a large bowl until smooth. Allow them to cool for a few minutes.

Step 4

Add the chopped onion, garlic, gluten-free soy sauce, white pepper, finely chopped coriander leaves, salt, and the optional ingredients (cooked ground beef and chili) to the mashed potatoes. Mix until well combined.

Step 5

Shape the mixture into patties, about 5-6 cm in diameter. Set them aside on a tray.

Step 6

Lightly beat the egg in a small bowl. Roll each patty in cornflour and dip into the beaten egg, ensuring each patty is evenly coated.

Step 7

Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry the patties in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan, for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown.

Step 8

Transfer the fried patties to a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.

Step 9

Serve warm as a side dish or snack. Enjoy your gluten-free Bergedil!
