Ingredients

  • 1 lb Boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 0.5 cup Cornstarch
  • 0.25 cup All-purpose flour
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 0.25 cup Soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Sesame oil
  • 0.25 cup Honey
  • 2 tbsp Brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Rice vinegar
  • 2 medium Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp Ground ginger
  • 0.33 cup Water
  • 2 tbsp Sesame seeds
  • 2 stalks Green onions, sliced
  • 2 cups Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Cut the chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces and season with salt and black pepper.

Step 2

In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and flour. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs.

Step 3

Dip each piece of chicken into the egg mixture, then coat it evenly in the flour and cornstarch mixture. Shake off any excess and set the pieces aside on a plate.

Step 4

Heat the vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Fry the coated chicken in batches for 5-6 minutes, or until golden and crispy. Remove and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.

Step 5

In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, brown sugar, rice vinegar, minced garlic, and ground ginger. Stir until the mixture is smooth and starts to simmer.

Step 6

In a small bowl, mix the water with 1 teaspoon of cornstarch to create a slurry. Slowly add the slurry to the saucepan, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency. Remove from heat.

Step 7

In a large bowl, toss the fried chicken pieces with the sesame sauce until evenly coated.

Step 8

Transfer the chicken to a serving dish and sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions.

Step 9

Serve immediately with steamed rice or your favorite side dish.
