  • 2 cups Granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup Water

Directions

Step 1

Peel, core, and dice the pears into small pieces. Aim for uniform sizes to ensure even cooking.

Grate the fresh ginger finely and gather the lemon zest and orange zest.

Step 3

In a large, heavy-bottomed pot, combine the diced pears, ginger, lemon zest, orange zest, lemon juice, orange juice, sugar, and water.

Stir well to ensure the sugar is evenly distributed and turn the heat to medium-high.

Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking or burning at the bottom.

Reduce the heat to medium-low and let the mixture simmer for 35-45 minutes, stirring occasionally. The pears should soften, and the mixture will thicken.

Test the marmalade's consistency by placing a small amount on a chilled plate. If it thickens and wrinkles slightly when pushed, it’s ready. If not, cook for a few more minutes and test again.

Once the desired consistency is achieved, remove the marmalade from the heat and let it cool slightly.
