Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin
  • 0.25 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 0.5 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 0.25 cup peanut butter
  • 0.5 cup coconut milk
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 tsp sriracha sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 10 wooden or metal skewers
  • 2 scallions (for garnish)
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Cut the beef sirloin into 1-inch cubes and set aside.

Step 2

In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, grated ginger, minced garlic, honey, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes to create the marinade.

Step 3

Place the beef cubes into a resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or up to 8 hours for best results.

Step 4

If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent them from burning during cooking.

Step 5

While the beef marinates, prepare the spicy peanut dipping sauce. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine peanut butter, coconut milk, lime juice, sriracha sauce, brown sugar, and water. Whisk until smooth and heated through, then remove from heat and set aside.

Step 6

Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Thread the marinated beef cubes onto skewers, distributing them evenly.

Step 7

Grill the beef skewers for 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until the beef is cooked to your desired doneness.

Step 8

Transfer the skewers to a serving platter. Garnish with sliced scallions and sesame seeds if desired.

Step 9

Serve the freshly grilled skewers with the spicy peanut dipping sauce on the side for dipping.
