Ingredients

  • 1 cup Unsalted butter
  • 1 cup Brown sugar
  • 1.5 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups Rolled oats
  • 0.5 teaspoons Baking soda
  • 11 ounces Caramel candies
  • 0.5 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 cup Semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 0.5 cup Chopped nuts (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8x8-inch square baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

Step 2

In a medium-sized saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Remove from heat and stir in the brown sugar until fully combined.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, rolled oats, and baking soda. Pour the butter and brown sugar mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until crumbly.

Step 4

Press half of the oatmeal mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes to create the base layer.

Step 5

While the base layer is baking, melt the caramel candies with the heavy cream in a microwave-safe bowl or over low heat on the stovetop, stirring frequently until smooth and fully combined.

Step 6

Once the base layer is done, remove it from the oven and sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the top. Add the optional chopped nuts in an even layer if using.

Step 7

Carefully pour the melted caramel mixture over the chocolate chips and nuts, spreading it evenly but gently to avoid disturbing the layers.

Step 8

Crumble the remaining oatmeal mixture over the top of the caramel layer, pressing lightly to ensure it adheres without sinking.

Step 9

Return the pan to the oven and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.

Step 10

Allow the oatmeal caramelitas to cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares or bars. For cleaner cuts, chill the pan in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes before slicing.

Step 11

Serve and enjoy these luscious oatmeal caramelitas as dessert or a special treat!
