Ingredients

  • 500 grams Ground beef
  • 250 grams Ground pork
  • 1 medium Yellow onion
  • 2 small Garlic cloves
  • 3 tablespoons Fresh parsley
  • 75 grams Breadcrumbs
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons Black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoons Paprika (optional)
  • 3 tablespoons Vegetable oil

Directions

Step 1

Peel and finely dice the yellow onion. Mince the garlic cloves and chop the fresh parsley.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef and ground pork. Add the diced onion, minced garlic, and chopped parsley.

Step 3

Add the breadcrumbs, eggs, Dijon mustard, salt, black pepper, and optional paprika to the meat mixture. Mix everything thoroughly using your hands until well combined.

Step 4

Form the mixture into palm-sized patties, approximately 8-10 cm in diameter and 1.5-2 cm thick. Aim for uniform size to ensure even cooking.

Step 5

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Step 6

Once the oil is hot, add the meat cakes to the pan, leaving space between each patty. Cook in batches if necessary.

Step 7

Fry the meat cakes for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and cooked through. Internal temperature should reach 71°C (160°F).

Step 8

Transfer the cooked meat cakes to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil.

Step 9

Serve warm with mashed potatoes, sauerkraut, or a side salad for a classic German meal.
