Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon Granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.5 cups Unsalted butter (cold, cubed)
  • 1 cup Sharp cheddar cheese (shredded)
  • 0.75 cups Whole milk (cold)
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh parsley (chopped, optional for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, granulated sugar, garlic powder, and salt until well combined.

Step 3

Using a pastry cutter or your fingertips, cut the cold, cubed butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Work quickly to keep the butter cold.

Step 4

Add the shredded sharp cheddar cheese to the bowl and gently toss to distribute it evenly throughout the flour mixture.

Step 5

Pour in the cold milk and stir with a wooden spoon or spatula until the dough just comes together. Be careful not to overmix.

Step 6

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently press it together into a 1-inch-thick rectangle. Use a biscuit cutter or the rim of a glass to cut out biscuits (about 2.5 inches in diameter). Gather any scraps, re-roll, and cut additional biscuits.

Step 7

Place the biscuits onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 1 inch of space between each biscuit.

Step 8

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown on top and cooked through.

Step 9

Remove the biscuits from the oven and let them cool slightly. If desired, sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley for a pop of color and flavor before serving.
