Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 8 oz white button mushrooms, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 small yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 4 pieces hamburger buns
  • 4 slices sliced cheese (optional)
  • 4 leaves lettuce leaves (optional)
  • 4 slices sliced tomatoes (optional)
  • 0 condiments of choice (ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise)

Directions

Step 1

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Step 2

Add the chopped onion and cook for 2-3 minutes until softened.

Step 3

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds, until fragrant.

Step 4

Add the finely chopped mushrooms to the skillet and cook for 5-6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms release their moisture and it evaporates. Remove the mixture from the heat and let it cool slightly.

Step 5

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, cooled mushroom mixture, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined; avoid overmixing to prevent tough burgers.

Step 6

Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about 1/2-inch thick.

Step 7

Heat the remaining tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat.

Step 8

Cook the burger patties for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. If adding cheese, place a slice on top of each patty during the last minute of cooking to allow it to melt.

Step 9

Lightly toast the hamburger buns in the skillet, grill, or toaster if desired.

Step 10

Assemble the burgers: place each patty onto the bottom half of a bun. Add optional toppings like lettuce, tomato, and condiments as desired. Top with the other half of the bun.

Step 11

Serve the Garlic and Mushroom Burgers immediately and enjoy!
