Ingredients

  • 500 grams shrimp, peeled and deveined (tail-on optional)
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 400 grams canned crushed tomatoes
  • 60 milliliters dry white wine
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 0.25 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 100 grams feta cheese, crumbled
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnishing)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped (optional)
  • 2 lemon wedges (for serving)
  • 1 loaf crusty bread (optional, for serving)

Directions

Step 1

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Step 2

Add the finely chopped onion and sauté for 4–5 minutes until softened and translucent.

Step 3

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.

Step 4

Pour in the crushed tomatoes and white wine. Stir well to combine.

Step 5

Season the sauce with salt, black pepper, oregano, and (optional) red pepper flakes. Simmer the sauce for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.

Step 6

Add the shrimp to the skillet, nestling them into the sauce. Cook for 4–5 minutes, flipping the shrimp halfway through, until they turn pink and are cooked through.

Step 7

Sprinkle the crumbled feta cheese evenly over the shrimp and sauce. Cover the skillet with a lid and let it cook for 2–3 minutes until the feta softens.

Step 8

Remove the skillet from the heat. Garnish with chopped parsley and (optional) dill.

Step 9

Serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side and crusty bread for dipping.
