Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 0.5 cup powdered sugar (for dusting or decorating)
  • 0.25 cup holiday-themed sprinkles (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and light brown sugar using a hand or stand mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 3

Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.

Step 4

In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, ground cinnamon, and kosher salt.

Step 5

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until fully incorporated. Scrape the sides of the bowl as needed.

Step 6

Using a tablespoon or cookie scoop, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches between each cookie.

Step 7

Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are golden but the centers remain slightly soft.

Step 8

Remove the cookies from the oven and allow them to cool on the baking sheets for 2 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 9

Once completely cooled, dust the cookies with powdered sugar or decorate with holiday-themed sprinkles if desired.

Step 10

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
