Ingredients

  • 4 pieces each Bone-in chicken thighs and drumsticks
  • 2 racks Pork baby back ribs
  • 2 teaspoons Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons Paprika
  • 2 teaspoons Garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons Onion powder
  • 3 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked paprika
  • 2 tablespoons Apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 cup Barbecue sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 tablespoons Honey (optional, for glazing)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C) and line two large baking sheets with aluminum foil for easy cleanup.

Step 2

Prepare the dry rub by combining salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, brown sugar, and smoked paprika in a small bowl.

Step 3

Pat the chicken pieces and ribs dry with paper towels and generously coat them with the dry rub, pressing it into the meat for maximum flavor.

Step 4

Place the chicken pieces on one baking sheet and the racks of ribs on the other. Drizzle olive oil over both, rubbing it into the meat to help the rub stick.

Step 5

Cover the ribs tightly with aluminum foil to trap moisture and ensure tender cooking, leaving the chicken uncovered for crispy skin.

Step 6

Bake the chicken and ribs in the preheated oven. Bake the chicken for 90 minutes, flipping halfway through, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Bake the ribs for 2 hours, or until the meat is fork-tender and starts to pull away from the bones.

Step 7

After the initial baking time, remove the foil from the ribs and increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C).

Step 8

Brush both the chicken and ribs generously with barbecue sauce. If desired, mix in a couple of tablespoons of honey with the barbecue sauce for extra sweetness and caramelization.

Step 9

Return the chicken and ribs to the oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the sauce becomes sticky and starts to caramelize.

Step 10

Remove from the oven, let rest for 10 minutes, and then slice the ribs between the bones for serving.

Step 11

Serve the oven-barbecued chicken and ribs hot with your favorite sides, such as coleslaw, cornbread, or roasted vegetables.
