Ingredients

  • 3 ripe peaches
  • 2 ripe apples
  • 0.5 cup raisins
  • 0.75 cup pecans
  • 1 yellow onion
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger
  • 0.5 cup white vinegar
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 cup water

Directions

Step 1

Peel, core, and dice the peaches and apples into small pieces.

Step 2

Finely chop the yellow onion and grate the fresh ginger.

Step 3

In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine the white vinegar, water, and brown sugar. Stir until the sugar dissolves.

Step 4

Add the diced peaches, apples, raisins, onion, and grated ginger to the saucepan. Stir to combine.

Step 5

Add the ground cinnamon, ground cloves, ground nutmeg, and salt to the mixture. Mix well.

Step 6

Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer uncovered for 25 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 7

While the chutney simmers, toast the pecans in a dry skillet over medium heat for 5 minutes, stirring frequently to avoid burning. Set aside to cool, then roughly chop them.

Step 8

After the chutney has thickened and the fruits have softened, remove it from the heat and stir in the chopped toasted pecans.

Step 9

Allow the chutney to cool before transferring it to sterilized jars for storage. It can be refrigerated for up to 2 weeks.

Step 10

Serve with your favorite dishes, such as roasted chicken or pork, or use it as a spread for cheese boards and crackers.
